Goods moving without a tax invoice can be detained unless accompanied by a valid Delivery Challan fulfilling legal transit conditions (e.g. Rule 55 compliance).
What happens when goods sent on a delivery challan are eventually sold?
Upon confirmation of sale, the seller must issue a formal Tax Invoice referencing the delivery challan number.
Is a delivery challan required for sending tools to a client site?
Yes. Equipment, tools, and demonstration kits sent to client job sites should travel with a delivery challan marked For Demonstration or Temporary Job Work.
